The relatives of the 22-year-old woman who rammed her car into six people in Sectors 45 and 46 of Chandigarh on Monday evening have said she was under the influence of some intoxication after her drink was spiked by someone. It was not immediately clear whom she had been drinking with, and who could have done it.
Another relative even alleged that she was raped in an inebriated condition. “She is a good driver and such irresponsible driving cannot be her work. We demand a police investigation into the happenings before she took to the wheel,” the relative said.

This was hours after the woman, a student of Panjab University, driving a Maruti Alto hit several people and vehicles in Sectors 45 and 46. An elderly woman Kamla Devi, a resident of Sector 46, and a motorcyclist Pawan Thakur, a resident of Ram Darbar, who suffered multiple fractures, were admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32.
The police said that the incident took place at 8:45 pm when the woman first hit motorcyclist Pawan Thakur in Sector 45 and, while escaping from the spot, she hit a child on the same road.
The police said that two youths on a bike started chasing her car in a bid to stop her, but, instead of stopping her car, she reversed and hit another car. The police said the youths, who were chasing her, again tried to stop her, but she suddenly reversed her car and hit 75-year-old Kamla Devi in Sector 46. She then crushed a cycle (as the cyclist left the cycle on the road and ran away after seeing her car approaching).
Finally, she reached her house in Sector 46 where people gathered and informed the police about her multiple accidents on the way.
