PU girl goes berserk, rams car into six people in Sec 45, 46

High drama was witnessed when a 22-year-old PU girl driving a Maruti Alto hit several people and vehicles in Sectors 45 and 46.
An elderly woman Kamla Devi, a resident of Sector 46, and a motorcyclist Pawan Thakur, a resident of Ram Darbar, who suffered multiple fractures, were admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32.
The police said that the incident took place at 8:45 pm when the woman first hit motorcyclist Pawan Thakur in Sector 45 and, while escaping from the spot, she hit a child on the same road.
The police said that two youths on a bike started chasing her car in a bid to stop her, but, instead of stopping her car, she reversed and hit another car. The police said the youths, who were chasing her, again tried to stop her, but she suddenly reversed her car and hit 75-year-old Kamla Devi in Sector 46.
She then crushed a cycle (as the cyclist left the cycle on the road and ran away after seeing her car approaching).
Finally, she reached her house in Sector 46 where people gathered and informed the police about her multiple accidents on the way.
A police team, led by station house officer (SHO), Sector 34 police station, Baljeet Singh, reached the spot and impounded her car. The police took the girl to GMSH-16 to conduct her medical examination whether she had taken alcohol or some drug.
SP (city) Navdeep Brar said the woman had been booked under Sections 279 ((rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC. He said they would book her under relevant sections, if applicable, after the medical examination.
The police have started investigation.

HER DRINK WAS SPIKED: FAMILY

Even as the Government Multi-Speciality HospitalSector 16, was thronged by relatives of those injured, the family members of the woman claimed that her drink had been spiked. Another relative even alleged that their ward was raped in an inebriated condition. “She is a good driver and such irresponsible driving cannot be her work. We demand a police investigation into the happenings before she took to the wheel,” the relative claimed.
