Recipe Dal halwa


1 cup washed moong dal without skins. 1 ½ cups milk. 1 tsp. Coarsely pounded cardamoms. ½ tsp essence of kewda, rose or saffron. 25 grams each of finely sliced almonds, pistachios and fried raisins.
Soak dal overnight in water, drain thoroughly and grind to a fine paste. Heat 5 tblsps ghee and fry the dal to a golden colour. Put milk and sugar and cook, stirring frequently until the halwa turns very thick. Stir in cardamoms and essence and remove from fire. Serve immediately garnished with nuts. :yes
