Drishyam Has Very Low Collections On Day One
Drishyam had poor first day collections of around 5-5.25 crore nett. The film did have better evening collections as the morning collections suggested an even lower total. Still for a film that has released in over 2200 screens its a very poor total. The film fared relatively better in Mumbai circuit.
The collections are the lowest for an Ajay Devgn starrer for some time Tezz in early 2012 had opened to 3.25 crore nett but since then its been a run of films that opened at around 10 crore nett with Singham Returns going over 30 crore nett. The business of Drishyam in West Bengal and Bihar was awful and in many cities of the North it was second to Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
The film will need huge growth on Saturday and really has to get upto around 8 crore nett on Saturday which still will not be a good number but at least the trend will be there and the film can at least have a chance. Normal growth of 25-30% will not help much due to such a weak opening.
Drishyam Shows Good Growth On Saturday
Drishyam is set to show good growth on Saturday as collections will be around the 7.50 crore nett mark which will mean growth of around 40%. The two day collections will be around 13.25 crore nett including paid previews. The growth on Saturday is across the board with all territories showing an upward trend.
The Saturday collections will still be low and the two day total of 13.25 crore nett is also not good. The ideal situation would have been huge 60-70% growth on Saturday but nevertheless 40% is also pretty good especially if it can repeat it again on Sunday.
The film has a long way to go with weekdays being crucial as Monday has to come close to the Friday total for it come out with good lifetime numbers. If not then it will join the list of many films where a poor initial has proved to be very costly.
Drishyam Second Day Business
Drishyam showed good growth on Saturday with collections 40% better on Saturday than Friday. The first two day business of Drishyam is as follows.
Paid Previews - 50,00,000
Friday - 5,25,00,000
Saturday - 7,50,00,000
TOTAL - 13,25,00,000
The film will be dependent on getting a Monday which is close to its Friday figure. This will give it a decent first week total and can build on it in week two.
Drishyam Is Decent On Sunday
Drishyam had decent collections of around 9.25 crore nett on Sunday but this is where the first day should have been or at least close to it. The Sunday business will take its first weekend total to around 22 crore nett. The film had good growth on Saturday but the growth is less on Sunday. this could be due to Bajrangi Bhaijaan as family audiences have really taken to the film and it is has been catching Drishyam over Saturday and Sunday.
The film has done its best business in Mumbai circuit and CP Berar and CI but even here the weekend totals are below the mark. The film has not performed at all in West Bengal and Bihar.
The Monday total will be all important and if it does turn out to strong then the film must hold close to Monday levels over the weekdays. This could take it towards the 40 crore nett mark for the week which won't be good but at least respectable considering the initial of the film..
Drishyam Has Low First Weekend
Drishyam had a low first weekend of a little under 23 crore nett. The trend over the weekend was pretty good though it really needed bigger growth. The first weekend business of Drishyam is as follows.
Paid Previews - 50,00,000
Friday - 5,25,00,000
Saturday - 7,50,00,000
Sunday 9,50,00,000
TOTAL - 22,75,00,000
The best business is in Mumbai circuit which grossed around 8 crore nett including paid previews. Monday is crucial for the film and needs a number close to uts Friday levels.
