what would you do to promote SIKHISM

i dare you to walk in any of GURUDWARA SAHIB without covering your head. i will do whatever you would like,
ah jehde thore bahut strictness bachee aa apne religion wich, pls dont try to take it away,
we already have modified the rules and teachings hell lot to suite us.

what we will teach the NRI kids, who dont have a clue what SIKHISM is?

I STARTED THIS DISCUSSION AS I HAVE A FEW COUSINS WHO ARE SCARED OF GOING TO GURUDWARA SAHIB.

we cant tell them that you can keep your respect for GOD in your innerself and do whatever u want.

Why don't you guys get that there are things more important than just the physical jestures.

What I learnt from my religion is this:

• Be fearless
• Fight for right
• Stand against injustice
• Never give up
• Help others

that's what my religion is to me ... and if cutting my hair or not covering my head makes me a non sikh... fine by me.

dekho kuj galla personal hann, i agree har banda apne apne tareeke naal sochda hai, ser dhakna, vaal katvanune............asi aap khud kinni ku rehat rakhde haan, par ehna sab to jaada jaroori hai sikhi di hond......kite o na khatam ho jaave, seriously kinne ku jaanya nu apni history pata hai, hun usch ta koi personal nahi hai na kuj vi te na kuj forced hai, its just history.......being sikhs how many of us actually know it?......te aun vaali generation nu kinna ku pata, kinne bache ne jehre gurdware jaake kuj sikh ke aunde hann, bahle ta khel-kudd ke aa jande ne, te kinne nu asi haan jinna de kann othe keertan karde bhayi ji de shabad sunde hann, jo katha hundi hai usto ki sikh ke aunde haan, kuriya da ta main dekhya ik-dooje de suit hi dekhdiya rehndiya te bahle munde bahr kharke kuriya check out karde ne (sareya baare nahi keh rahi), te gurdwareya diya commetties di apni larayi hundi hai paise piche, leadry piche............there are manu serious issues out there......i dunno promote karan layi kuj kar sakdi haan ja nahi, par haan my dad's got a voice out there and i keep giving him young ideas to put them out there, so people know how we as a new generation think..........

we can't force religion on anyone.

This thread is all about what you can do for sikhism...you measn what a person can do to promote sikhism. So angel eyes put her view that she is not going to cut hairs and all dat. She told not cutting hairs is one of sikhi culture. She is not forcing anyone. Just telling this is one thing a person can do to promote sikhism and ofcourse by cutting hairs we are not proper sikhs.

i agree its not just about hairs..i already put all dis point of educating others and all those. But wat i mean is keeping hairs gives us a unique identity......

jess j waal nayi kataune taan oh kisse layee nayi apne layee karna hai.......kee faral painda kisse nu pata chale na chale sade waal na kataun de significance baare.....asi aap taan andaro khush hovange kee asi sikhi de nede aan........well m also tryin hard kee main vee hun waal lambe kar lavaan te kataune chadd davaan.......i hope ess waar atal ravaan ess decision te....halaan kee hune apne bday te katva k hatti aan

it is.....I don't know others..i started wearing pagg I feel m more responsible.
Te mainu dekho dekhi..ek banda hor pagg banan di sochda ke yaar je oh ta main kyun nahi..... so it is to promote sikhism...

As i earlier told when I wear pagg I feel more responsible..i tries to be gud...I donn wana get a bad name for Sardar in public.

Lets take an example: Earlier I used to drink in pubs and used to smoke but now when i wear pagg I feel I should not look at those sides, even if I don't wear pagg some day (as I don't have kesh rite now) I will never touch smoke, drinks coz from inside I feel I have to wear pagg should try to be away from bad things. If nothing else I can set a example for my sikh friends (so called cut-surds) who used to smoke and drink with me.

I think something is better than nothing.......so keeping hair is also promoting sikhism.

main kise nu vaal katvaun baare ja na na katvaun baare salah nahi ditti, please read it and then see what i have said.........i began my views with that mainu vaala katavaun da masla koi vadda nahi lagda.....and i did say if i tell people not to cut their hair i be the biggest hypocrite in the world, with my b/f being hindu............Please read what someone has posted and then interpret things ............i was exactly making the same point what we need to do to promote sikhism, and my biggest point is we need to know our history ourself before we can go teach others, saanu khud nu kinne nu swala da jawab pata hunda.....vaal, ser dhakkna sab personal issues han, main kar sakdi haan, karangi, koi nahi kar sakda kise di personal choice........nobody is forcing noone
