our forefathers were more intelligent, civlized, intellectual. they knew about all the calamites that our generation was going to face. for instance, aids, drugs, even i consider avian flu and mad cow desease.
we are told not to eat meat, do drugs of any kind and to be strictly vegetarian (i am not one of them though, i am strictly carnivore)
but they knew.
so i dont consider OUR SO CALLED OLD JAMANA PEOPLE to be of any kind less intellectual and living in veham bharam.

You should understand the reasons behind things they suggested and not just blindly follow it. As long as you know what they tried to convey, it's all good. I 'm a vegi and I don't do drugs of any kind, and thats by choice not because my religion prohibits it. All I want to say is learn why things were said not just what was said.
