Amid nationwide controversy over the propagation of the BJP/RSS ideology via imposition of beef ban in various BJP-ruled states, senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar today quoted Muslim religious texts and leaders to espouse benefits of cow’s milk and dangers of eating its meat.
Referring to holy book Quran and quoting Hadees (preaching of Prophet Muhammad) and views expressed by Muslim scholars of national and international fame on cow’s milk and meat, Kumar, on Eid-ul-Azha (Bakr-Eid) today, urged Muslims to follow their teachings and become “sachche musalman” (true followers of the faith).
Kumar is also the margdarshak (guide) of the RSS affiliate Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), which has published a booklet, “Gai aur Islam” (cow and Islam) — a compilation of articles by Muslim religious leaders highlighting the importance of cow in the religion.
“Bakr” in “Bakr-Id” stood for cow, Kumar maintained, adding that Islamic religious texts had called cow milk a medicine for alleviating the human body of all mental and physical illnesses. Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of an event hosted by BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain to mark the occasion, Kumar advised Muslims to stop eating beef and becoming ill and spreading diseases through their “kattarta” (rigid views).
“Muslim religious leaders did not favour eating beef. According to Islamic religious texts and paigambars, “gai ka gosht” (beef) is full of diseases whereas cow milk is the “upchaar” (remedy) for them. In such circumstances, Muslims insisting on eating beef is like a diabetic saying that I will eat a “rasogullah” (sweet) irrespective of the ailment,” he said.
“Beemariyan kha ke beemar honge aur apni kattarta se auro ko beemar karenge (By eating beef, they will fall ill and spread the disease through their rigid views. I would request Muslims to get rid of this kattarta and become sachche musalman (true Muslims). They should not try to incite others in the community because people of the community have already decided which side they are on — Yakub Memon who was a shaitan ka praroop (devil’s reflection) or APJ Abdul Kalam who a farishte ka praroop (angel’s reflection),” he said.
Quoting Nabi-e-Karim sallallahu alaihi wasallam in scriptures Hadis Tabrani and Hadis Mustadrak al-hakim, MRM booklet says cow milk is for your benefit because the milk and butter is a useful medicine while its meat is a disease.
“Those who are “matlab parast” (opportunists) do not want to reveal the truth about cow because they want to mislead the community on the basis of religion for individual political gains,” said Mohammad Faiz Khan, national convener of the gaurakhsha prakoshth of the MRM.
