On World Drug De-Addiction Day Youth Congress Jalandhar (rural) organised a Seminar at Guru Nanak Library here to launch Youth Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's pioneer Programme Tragedy unattended.
Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, President District Youth Congress (rural), presiding over the Seminar, motivated Youth Congress workers to lead a fight against Drug Addiction in Punjab. About 130 activist including the Block Presidents and Block Youth Congress Committee members from 10 blocks of the district (rural) participated in the seminar.
Mr Chaudhary said the Youth Congress activist(AAM AADMI KA SIPAHI) will initially identify drug addicts from 5 villages each in the all the10 blocks of Jalandhar Rural and will assist in their rehabilitation. Apart from this, activist will also spread awareness throughout the district to ensure proper implementation of the program at the Gram Panchayat level. Identification of drug peddlers including the chemists who sell synthetic drugs will be done through a task force and will call for a social boycott of those found guilty.
Youth Congress activists will shortly meet Commissioner of Police demanding strict and stern action against such criminals who are killing the dreams and future of Punjab and also extending support to the Police Department in fight against Drug Peddlers. DYC chief said the most right way to fight drug abuse is to cut the supplies and then only create a 'will' in the affected person.
He said that there is a need to involve NGO's and every Indian fighting for the cause to Eradicate Drug abuse which is the biggest cause of increasing crime and loss of young lives in Punjab.
