Punjab News 1 faints as Youth Congress hunger strike enters 2nd day

A Youth Congress leader fainted and was hospitalised today as the indefinite hunger strike by the Punjab Youth Congress, to press the state government to give a timeframe to eradicate the use of drugs in the state, entered second day.

Raghbir Singh, general secretary of Faridkot district youth congress fainted this evening at the dharna site. He was rushed to DMC hospital where he was declared out of danger. Raghbir Singh sat on hunger strike along with several youths led by Punjab Youth Congress president Ravnit Singh Bittu since Sunday morning.

Meawhile, Mr Bittu said Punjab Youth Congress workers would ''fight till the end and this is just the beginning.'' He also criticised the Punjab government for not accepting their demand for formation of a drug prevention board.Mr Bittu said everyday around 50 Youth Congress members would sit on the hunger strike and they would be replaced by another 50 the next day. However, Mr Bittu said he himself would will sit on hunger strike continuously till the Punjab government gave a timeframe to ''eradicate the use of synthetic drugs from the state.''
