WhatsApp beta for Android is testing a new video streaming feature that allows users to view the video while it is being downloaded. This means you no longer have to wait to watch the video till it is downloaded completely.
Prior to the update, you had to download the entire video or wait until the video is downloaded automatically depending on you WhatsApp setting. With the latest update, you will now see a play button instead of a download button. Users will get the same video watching experience as they get while watching any YouTube video.
The latest feature comes only days after WhatsApp launched video calling globally. Currently video streaming feature is only available for the beta version but it could soon roll out for the stable version as well.
