The sketch of a woman, who allegedly fled away with a newborn baby girl from Community Health Centre, Premnagar, was circulated in the police stations of the city and other districts today.
The city police was unable to trace the accused woman even as more than a day has passed since the matter was reported.
BJP activists and relatives of the traumatised parents had created a ruckus at CHC, Premnagar, when a middle-aged woman fled with the newborn baby girl on Saturday evening.
The baby was born to Anita, wife of Rajesh, a resident of Singniwala on Saturday morning.
The family alleged that an unknown woman had befriended Anita's mother-in-law at the hospital and fled with the newborn when the family, including the mother-in-law, was away from the ward.
SSP Pushpak Jyoti, City SP Ajay Singh, CO Manoj Katiyal, and Premnagar SHO Sandeep Saini immediately reached the spot to investigate the matter.
Police sources said several teams had been sent to Saharanpur, Meerut, Moradabad etc to trace the absconding woman.
Officials claimed that the investigating teams had received several clues that would prove extremely beneficial to trace the woman.
