Mercedes-Benz has launched a limited edition C-Class called the Edition-C. The special variant is available in three body styles; coupe, sedan and estate and features mostly cosmetic changes both on the inside and the outside. Mercedes is now offering its 4Matic four-wheel drive system for the C220 CDI variant as an optional extra.
On the outside, the ‘Edition-C’ gets a special grille that has been given a combination of gloss black louvers and chrome. It also gets smoked headlights, chrome tail pipes as well as a host C-Edition badges. The coupe is also offered with an AMG body kit to give it some muscle in addition the other styling changes. The body kit can also be fitted on the sedan or the estate if they have been specified with Avantgarde specification.
Inside, the ‘Edition-C’ gets sports seats (AMG spec in the case of the coupe) two-tone leather upholstery, velour floor mats along with aluminium trim around the vehicle. The leather wrapping has also been extended to the steering wheel, gear lever and the door panels. Also part of this package is a multi-function display.
The C220 CDI now gets the option of the German automaker’s 4Matic four-wheel drive system. The C220 CDI is powered a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel mill producing 169PS and 400Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels/all wheels via a seven speed automatic and now the optional 4Matic system. This system is offered on the saloon or estate models.
The ‘Edition-C package’ is available for additional 1785 Euros (Rs 1.26 lakh) but will cost only 1,011 Euros (Rs 71, 823) if the vehicle has been specified with the Avantgarde trim. It has been launched in Germany and might be offered here for the C-Class sedan (since the other two models are not sold here). No price has been specified for the four-wheel drive system in C220 CDI and it is unlikely to be launched here due to the additional cost.
