It was back in June this year that Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new generation of the A-Class and just 6 months later the car is making its way to the Indian shores. The company is all set to launch the new A-Class in India on December 8.

According to the manufacturer, the car sports subtle design changes, a new interior trim and updates to the engines as well. Mercedes-Benz had unveiled the petrol, CDI and Motorsport Edition versions and of course the Mercedes-AMG A 45 4Matic; but India might just get the petrol and diesel versions of the car.

The new A-Class sees a revised air dam and new head lamps. Mercedes-Benz gives you the option of LED headlamps as well but these come as standard on the AMG variant. There isn't much of a change to the rear look of the A-Class except for the LED tail lamps.

On the inside, there are a few changes too as it features upgraded materials with new colours for the dashboard trim. The screen atop the centre console has grown to eight inches, but is available only as an option on the new car. The seats get an additional 60mm cushion depth which aid comfort according to Mercedes-Benz. New colours and materials, as well as new finishes for the trim in the dashboard, ensure a fresh ambiance. New features include Sahara Beige / black leather in the Exclusive package. The new A-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz to feature smartphone integration including Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.

Mercedes-Benz has upgraded the engines on the A-Class as well and the A 220 CDI will see a boost of 6bhp which will take the tally up to 174bhp. The A-Class models with the 7-G DCT transmission will also come with launch assist, a first for the car. The "ECO display" also takes a new form to assist the driver in maintaining an environmentally friendly style of driving.

Mercedes-Benz is also using the A-Class model facelift as the opportunity to introduce the new nomenclature for the drive variants in this model series. While the petrol models have no suffix, the small letter "d" replaces the previous "CDI" - the A 200 CDI is now called the A 200 d
