CM SANCTIONS RS 35 CRORE TO UPGRADE HC INFRASTRUCTURE

H.S. Mattewal, Advocate General said the state government had full faith in the judicial system and the government would also ensure a flawless system in future.
He said in the current financial year a provision of Rs 35 crore had been earmarked to set up new chambers and libraries in district courts across the state. He added that to improve the infrastructure of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a grant of Rs 2 crore had been sanctioned by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Mattewal was speaking on the Baisakhi eve celebrations organised by the District Bar Association’s newly formed team. On the occasion, he announced a grant of Rs 11 lakh for the DBA. He also added that the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Vijendra Jain in collaboration with the state government was making all efforts to curb the menace of female foeticide and other anti-social drives were also being vigorously followed.
Mattewal added that it was due to the efforts of the Chief Justice that the concept of mobile courts had been planned and executed to ensure speedy justice. He admitted that unsolved cases were in excess due to the paucity of judges and he also appealed to lawyers to ensure that people get speedy justice.
