Actor Aamir Khan, who was in the Bihar capital Patna on Saturday to promote his upcoming film PK, visited a roadside shop and enjoyed a Bihari delicacy, litti-chokha.

“It is known for its unique taste. I love to eat litti-chokha,” Khan said.

As news of Khan’s visit spread like wildfire, hundreds of people gathered at the shop. But they were disappointed as the actor had already left by then.

“I was overjoyed when Aamir Khan visited my shop and asked me to serve litti-chokha. He enjoyed its special rustic flavour and taste,” shop owner Bihari Rai said.

He said Khan ate two pieces of the dish.

The actor had visited Rai’s shop in 2012.

Rai said his shop became popular after Khan’s visit. “Many people come here to taste litti-chokha and ask [about] what Aamir Khan ate,” he said.

In a bid to attract more people, Rai has put up big banners with photographs of Khan’s visit to his shop and him eating the litti-chokha.

A billboard quotes Khan as saying “litti ka jawab nahin” (litti is exceptional).

A traditional baked dish, litti is made of wheat flour and roasted gram powder.
