Quentin Tarantino presents The Man with the Iron Fists

Quentin Tarantino presents The Man With the Iron Fists, an action-adventure inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth. Making his debut as a big-screen director and leading man, RZA—alongside a stellar international cast led by Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu—tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.

Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.

Blending astonishing martial-arts sequences from some of the masters of this world with the signature vision he brings as the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and as one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures of the past two decades, RZA embarks upon his most ambitious, stylized and thrilling project to date.

Neil Cross Talks 'Luther' Movie, Alice Morgan Spinoff

Though Ruth Wilson had to be written out of Emmy-nominated BBC America miniseries “Luther,” show creator and exec producer Neil Cross has big plans for her Alice character.

Cross said he has spoken to the BBC about creating a miniseries that would center on Alice, the beguiling serial killer with whom Idris Elba’s Luther tangoed in the first set of “Luther” episodes.

“The BBC is very interested in the project,” Cross told Variety today. “The only real question would be how many and how often we would do it — whether it would be a one-off miniseries or a returning miniseries, a co-production or not.”

The Alice project would come in addition to a proposed “Luther” movie that would follow the miniseries third and final set of episodes, which will air on BBC America (which co-produces with the BBC) at a time to be determined.

“The truth is I absolutely adore Alice,” Cross said. “I don’t like to imagine my life without Alice in some way or other. Even if I didn’t sell this thing, I would still end up writing the miniseries. It’s something peculiar, but she’s far more clever than me, far more witty than me, far more everything than me.

“I’ve got storylines going around in my head like trains,” he added.

'Blake's 7' reboot in the works at Syfy with 'Casino Royale' director

Syfy is working on a U.S. version of classic UK sci-fi series Blake’s 7.

Created by Terry Nation (Dr. Who), Blake’s 7 followed a hard-core renegades and criminals who escape from a prison planet — battling humans and aliens alike – and became heroes. The show launched on BBC in 1978 and ran for four seasons. If greenlit, Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) will direct the script by Joe Pokaski (Heroes).

The move shows Syfy making an effort to go back to the space travel genre after launching plenty of terrestrial-bound scripted projects and reality shows in recent years since shedding its former Sci Fi Channel name. The network once synonymous with shows like Battlestar Galactica and Farscape has lacked a space-based drama since cancelling Stargate Universe last year.

Ben Affleck Confirms He’s Not Making ‘Justice League,’ Interest in the Wachowskis Now Rumored

A couple weeks back, reports came out that Ben Affleck was one of the first people Warner Bros. wanted to talk to for the directorial gig on Justice League. It seemed like an unlikely chance, given the sort of films Affleck has made to date, especially with his experience on Daredevil taken into account. Not long afterward, a follow-up report made it sound like there wasn’t any real chance at all that Affleck would take the job. Now, just to close the door completely, the actor/director has commented speifically on Justice League, saying that he isn’t working on the movie.

Dwayne Johnson Teams with TNT for The Hero

TNT announced today that they've greenlit "The Hero" (working title), a new reality-competition series that will set out to find the next great hero. TNT has ordered eight episodes of the series from Ben Silverman's multimedia entertainment studio Electus and its 5x5 Media exclusive producers. "The Hero" will be headlined by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who will executive-produce with his producing partner, Dany Garcia. The series is set to premiere on TNT in summer 2013.

"The Hero" will bring 10 ordinary people together in a house and then assign them various missions that will test their brains, their brawn and even their morality. The show will challenge the competitors to prove they've got what it takes to be heroes, pushing them to the limits to see what they are willing (and able) to overcome, undergo or sacrifice for the sake of their fellow contestants.

Johnson will serve as the show's mentor and motivator, encouraging the contestants to reach far beyond their personal limits. In the end, one player will rise above the others, overcoming obstacles he/she never thought possible in order to become a true hero.[/img]

BBC TV's Sherlock Re-imagining Gets Japanese Manga

The October issue of Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine is announcing on Tuesday that a manga adaptation of BBC's Sherlock television series will debut in the next issue on October 4. The artist "Jay." is launching the manga with an adaptation of "A Study in Pink," the show's first episode which was scripted by Doctor Who writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.

The BBC series takes Arthur Conan Doyle's brilliant yet idiosyncratic detective and re-imagines him in modern-day London. Benedict Cumberbatch (Atonement, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, 2013 Star Trek sequel) and Martin Freeman (The Office, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Hobbit) star as Sherlock and his friend Dr. Watson, respectively. There have been two seasons of three 90-minute episodes, with plans for a third season.

The CW Is Developing a Wonder Woman Origins Series

Boom! Wonder Woman may be coming back to TV after all, but not in the way we've been used to seeing her on film. Barely a year after NBC opted against moving forward with David E. Kelley's reworking of the comic book icon, and just as the character is hooking up with the Man of Steel in the comics, Vulture hears that the CW, Warner Bros. TV, and DC Comics have found a new way to revive the legend of Diana of Themyscira. The plan this time: origin story, all the way.
