HP is expected to announce a tablet computer running webOS on Feb. 9, along with a new generation of smartphones. Now it looks like a webOS netbook could be unveiled, too.

In a training video targeted at retail partners, HP talks about a suite of devices, all interacting with each other, and all running webOS—calling it "the big idea."

"If I could run webOS on my phone, and a slate, and a netbook...," a speaker says in the video. "And they all talked to each other and shared information... A friendly little product family... That connects you to the world in amazing new ways."

HP acquired Palm last year to strengthen its mobile portfolio. Before the acquisition, Palm's webOS and phones running the operating system, such as the Palm Pre, were hits with reviewers but failed to capture significant market share. As of November, only about four percent of U.S. smartphones run on webOS, according to ComScore.
Earlier this month, HP sent invitations to the media for a webOS event on Feb. 9. In a recent interview with CNBC, HP Executive Vice President Todd Bradley strongly suggested HP would announce a tablet at that event. That followed an report from December that detailed specs of such a device, allegedly called the PalmPad.
This is the first news of a webOS netbook, however. It's unknown how such a device would be sold or how much it would cost, though the same training video refers to mobile carriers as the retail partners for webOS smartphones; a netbook could follow in the same channels.
