If we can interpret gurbani according to our mindset.. how do I know if what I think it means is actually true?
Pata nahi.

I guess it is applicable only to philosphy not to our scientific explanation.

It is very tough to understand religion in this age, we always look for proof, validation and logical facts. But religion is different from it, it is more of philosphical and spiritual nature.

Personally I think religion will stand test of any logical explanations. I love Guru Nanak stories because He always used logic to break superstitions. I have always enjoyed reading about His life. It has never failed to inspire me.

Even I was thinking the same when I was writing that. Maybe we do not have that kind of mindset to understand it.

Shayad taahin Sant Maskeen ji ne kaya si ke jo jawab dil te dimag nu consensus ch laya khada karda ohi sahi aa.

Sometimes I feel that we guys are of mentality that whenever we have to find out any thing, we just start asking others. We do not want to analyze, search by ourself. Sukhmani Sahib di ik line kehndi ke jo aadmi prabh nu labhan nikal jaanda oh ant ch BrahmGyani ho janda.

Par aj kal loki ik duje kolo sun sun ke Brahm Gyani hoi jaande aa, bina kisse research te khoj to.

May be it's time to serve 'bani banai kheer'.. may be then new generations will understand the religion and practice it with more will power. People like me might start understanding things a bit better! Not everyone takes the
initiative to find the truth. (I know I am way off topic, as always :an)

Philosphy is also logical. Only thing is that its measurment is not Binary (0 or 1).

Its tough. I personally know few Kirtani Singhs and a KathaVachak jo ke Gurughar di stages de baith ke bohat katha kirtan te updesh dinde aa. Kehnde aa sharab, meat to bacho. Amrit Shako and blah blah....
Kinne ta ehje aa Amritdhari v nahi hiage, just Kirtan karan vele Kirpan paa laende aa. These people do not fear of anything, God is a business for them.

Guru Nanak pulled us from the clutches of selfish Brahmins and Mahants. These days sikhs are again in the clutches of these so called Parcharacks and Katha Vachak. These so called Bani Banai Kheer Bandan waleya da business aa. Jad ehna da dil karda ta Dasam Granth nu valid kar dinde, jad dil karda osdi manyata te question khada kar dinde.

Main ta ehi salah dunga ke je time lagda ta aap hi maari moti bani parr ke samjhan di koshish karo. Kisse trustworthy, naal de Gursikh naal baithe ke discuss kar lo, par aap paran to baad.

Im not a vegetarian, but i hardly ever eat meat, and also only if made at home (chicken only..if ever). But now wanting to quit, i dnt knw why but i guess i realized im not a big fan of eating meat and i for sure can live widout it. :d

Baaki reha sawaal meat khaan da in Sikh dharam, i've always thought dat meat was prohibited in Sikhism... :thinking People who say its a personal choice dat bein amritdhaari u can eat meat, i wud say dat, dat is totally untrue..
I mean, u ever thought why it isnt served in langhar? If dats wat we've been following frm years and years, honestly, i've never thought bout questioning it...period. Some say Sikhs r not to eat halal meat..halal or not...meat is meat, how do we knw how a chicken sandwich we buy at mcdonalds was made? :nerdor im jst not understandin wat halal really means :dn

I once read an article online, it had quotes frm Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, i will for sure, share it wid u guys...i might have it saved somewhere. But till then ehna te (da followin quotes) vichaar kareyo...i found these replies to da same question asked by otha Sikhs...here's wat othas hav to say...

It is alright to eat meat. Sikh scriptures show that some Gurus used to hunt. Also Guru Nanak Dev ji has clearly written in his Bani as follows and put the issue at rest " O Pande (Hindu Priest) do not confuse people. Meat eating is the same as eating Saag. That human being is made out of meat, made from the meat, the tongue in the mouth itself is meat, then how do you say that meat is bad?".
The guru Granth sahib is written in Raag form. read under Raag Mulaar, it clearly states that arguing over whether meat can be eaten or not or which meat should be eaten is an issue for FOOLs to discuss. Around about pages 1290-1296

Even plants have been proven to be living. Scientists recently recorded noises from a plant similar to an "eek" when the plant was snapped in half. So technically nothing is vegetarian but I don't think all Sikhs are vegetarian. I'm not vegetarian. :d

One thing I would like to clear, Sikhs are not at all on only Vegetarian diet. Sikhs do consume animal products like Milk, curds etc. Sikhs do consume some other stuff which western Vegans do not eat (like potatoes, garlic and turmeric powder etc).

But I guess here Jatti wanted to know about meat eating or not................
