today i went to AirIndia maintenances department in mumbai.....
i was shocked by seeing what i saw
their was more then fifty people to maintain a single aircraft....
u will say the problem in that its good na... but no its not good
more people means....
- more payments
- less chance introducing modern technique's
( human tendency of resistance to change )
- more chances of error
- more money loss
- more time

i asked one senior's official y airindia is not using any modern technology for the maintenance of air craft
he told me we r trying for it
i asked him is their any problems of fund he said no
and on the issue of so many people he said union problems


i think with this we r wasting lots of money, which could be used in some other useful R&D programs,and other developments

and if some one modernization will increase unemployment, i will say
use this money for some other thing and use the manpower their....

It is quite normal , i have worked with an american domestic airlines, even they use to have so much strength in their maintainence crew.

they require this strength coz everybody cannot maintain all the systems on an aircraft, a part of the crew is specialized in hydraulics, some are in electrical,some in aeronautical thats y they need so much people,

u know in every two min their is flight landing or taking off from mumbai airport either domestic of international.....
with such high frequency in some thing goes wrong on run way u can understand how will be the situation in sky TRAFFIC JAM

y i can understand what u r trying to explain
but today i was told by my uncle who works for air india that they have around 150+ people behind each plane they have
150 include all staff (flying and maintaining......)
