VIA Labs VL811 4-port USB 3.0 Hub Controller

VIA Labs unveiled the VIA Labs VL811 4-port SuperSpeed Hub Controller, that can handle four USB 3.0 ports and can be used in stand-alone hubs, docking stations and integrated motherboards.

Compared to its predecessor, the VL811 offers improved performance, support for the USB Battery Charging Spec. 1.2, and includes the Charging Downstream Port function which allows devices compliant with the BCS (Battery Charging Specs) to charge over three times faster than with conventional hubs/hosts.

VIA Labs VL811 builds on the success of the VL810, the world’s first 4-port USB 3.0 Hub controller,” said Terrance Shih, Project Manager of VIA Labs, Inc USB 3.0 Hubs. “It adds exciting new features, such as the rapid charging function and improved performance.

Now we just have to wait for manufacturers to adopt the VL811 for their USB 3.0 gear.
