</td></tr> <tr> <td> This time Sikhpoint is here to bring forth the increasing obnoxious trend of idol worship among Sikhs worldwide, defying Guru’s teaching and Shabad Guru in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The words of Guru Govind Singh ji ' Guru Granth ji manio pargat guraan kee deh' meaning 'Guru Granth as living body of the through and through' have been misinterpreted by Sikhs who instead of seeking consultation and guidance, are donning idol worship.
One of the most respected professions in the world is that of a teacher. It is the teacher who imparts knowledge to a committed student and can show that person the path which they themselves have mastered. The only gratitude that a student can show that teacher is respect, as no money can buy that knowledge and plug it straight into a person's head.
The Guru Granth Sahib contains the teachings of the Guru Sahiban. Their sermons have the power to guide a person to the loftiest of humanity's goals and provide the one thing that every human desires: inner contentment. It is because of these highest of teachings imparted by the Guru Granth Sahib that its students pay it such respect.
To equate this with mere bowing to an idol in some ritualistic fashion would be an insult to every Sikh who bows to his/her teacher in utter and sincere respect.
As it would be difficult to throw such thoughts out and out, we should all get together to root this evil from the Sikh Society .
