Chandigarh May 7:

The SAD-BJP Government in Punjab is using cyber space to build up its “e-image”, just a few months before the State Assembly elections.

The countdown has already begun for the final showdown, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is connecting with the people on the virtual field. The party is already at work, sending “personalised” newsletters to its existing database to over one lakh people highlighting their achievements in respective fields-considering that the ‘winning’ path of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Logging on to technology, the SAD workers are generating their contacts from various sources to reach the maximum number of people through their web-campaign. With this, the SAD will virtually come up with its e-image, hyperlinking with the people from across the State.

Recently, the SAD has come up with its new and updated website talking not only about the works done and targets achieved by the current regime. Besides this, they are also providing history of the party and the sacrifices that party leaders had made for the State.
“We are trying our best to generate the maximum contacts from our workers across the Atate. As of now, we are sending our newsletters through mails to the contacts we have in our database. Instructions have been sent to the party workers and officials to contribute in providing contacts at their own level,” a senior party leader told reporters.
The party officials are working at formatting the newsletters, word by word, stressing on the accomplishments of the current Government in providing the best of the facilities to the people of the State. With no surprises, while uploading their e-image in the minds of the people through its website, the SAD has portrayed deputy Chief Minister and party president Sukhbir Singh Badal as the face of State’s future for the upcoming Assembly elections, instead of his father Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, expectedly.

The last few months senior Badal making strategic move by passing over his power ‘step-by-step’ to his son. Also, the preparation to build Sukhbir as the sole successor of his father’s legacy in SAD began almost three years back, when he was credited with SAD’s victory in 2007 Assembly elections and hailed at all political platform bringing new techniques of canvassing and enrolling youth into the party.

Continuing the same, this website also invited people to “join” SAD by filling a simple form asking basic information. This is not all! The website has been designed while keeping in view the language-feasibility of the State. “The website has been designed keeping in view that Punjab has people who read Punjabi, English and also Hindi. So, the website can be viewed and surfed in three languages, that will ensure that the message will be sent home very clearly in the language of their choice,” said a senior party leader.

Also, the website will give the insight into the party’s functioning since its inception “that braved the turbulent times of militancy or else in the State and the sacrifices made by the Akali leaders to maintain the dignity of the State,” party leader added. The website also displays the old pictures of party’s forefathers and also senior Badal in his young age.
