Laxmi Ratan Shukla rescued Bengal from a top order collapse with a superb ton to help them post a decent first innings total against Saurashtra. Harshad Khadiwale, opening the innings for Maharashtra, kept the Goa bowlers at bay to score an unbeaten ton while Kedhar Jadhav also did a good job, scoring a fine century.
Ramaswamy Prasanna came in at number six after Tamil Nadu lost wickets in a heap against Uttar Pradesh and scored an unbeaten hundred to get his team out of trouble while Faiz Fazal scored his second hundred on the trot and remained not-out to put Vidarbha in a good position against Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Rishi Dhawan extended his good form by picking up his second fifer in a row and his third in this edition of the Ranji Trophy while Basant Mohanty and Jasprit Bumrah also did a good job with the ball, finishing with a five-wicket haul on a day when five teams were bowled out. The likes of Sanjay Budhwar, Suraj Yadav and Arup Das also shined with the ball, picking up four-wicket hauls each.
