Ludhiana January 7:
After taking “murdered-man-alive” Jagseer Singh’s blood samples for DNA fingerprinting, the Ludhiana rural police is in a dilemma who to match the samples with as his parents have both absconded fearing police action.
The police had taken the blood samples recently and sent to Chandigarh for fingerprinting. But, the DNA cannot be matched till the samples are taken from either of his parents. The police wanted the fingerprinting to prove to the court that he was the son of Sukhdev Singh of Tallewal village, and five innocents were convicted for his murder.
SSP, Ludhiana Rural, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said though the convicts in the case had identified Jagseer to be the man for whose murder they underwent a sentence, the police will produce the DNA report as an evidence in the court.
Jagseer’s family had absconded after his father was booked along with his maternal uncles and the prime witness in his murder case. The police had arrested his maternal uncles Gurdev Singh and Jeeta Singh, who had identified the body as that of Jagseer’s in order to get their political rivals framed in a murder case. They were reportedly aware that Jagseer was alive.
SSP Bhullar said: “I have asked my staff to expedite the investigation. Jagseer’s parents should be arrested soon. Then we would be complete with our case,” he added.
