Pathankot is Air Deccan's 61st airport and the 12th unconnected city to be brought on the Indian aviation map."

He added, "Pathankot is a meeting point of the three northern states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The city is an important access point for several tourist spots in Himachal and J & K which bestows strategic importance on the city and justifies the need for air connectivity."
