The Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG has spied testing near the Nurburgring race track in Germany. The GLA 45 AMG is the top-end version of the GLA crossover that is scheduled for a debut at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. This top-of-the-line performance variant is slated to make its debut in early 2014.
The GLA 45 AMG is expected to use the same four cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged mill found in the A45 AMG and the CLA 45 AMG. This engine produces 360bhp and 450Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to all four wheels via an AMG seven-speed transmission and the German automakers very own 4MATIC system.
The AMG spec car is also expected to get a modified suspension, AMG body kit (visible in the pictures) and AMG specific alloy wheels. The interiors are expected to stay the same as the A45 and the CLA45 except for the changes related to the vehicle becoming a crossover.
The GLA (and all its variants) are a part of a new range of three pointed stars which will be priced below Rs 25 lakh. They are underpinned by the MFA architecture and will either be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz has already confirmed that it will launch the entire range for the Indian market by 2015. It launched the B-Class tourer in October last year and is expected to launch the A-Class in June.
