India's leading utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd signed an agreement here Friday for the design and development of a new aircraft with the state-owned National Aerospace Laboratories and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
The multiple cargo and passenger aircraft is expected to be developed over a period of 36 months and will have a capacity of carrying at least five passengers, a Mahindra & Mahindra statement here said.
"The design and development of the aircraft will be done by Mahindra Systems and Technologies engineering wing-Plexion Technologies," it said.
The aircraft will have specifications that would meet both Indian and international standards, the statement said.
The company however, did not give any financial details of the deal.
