Jio Fiber Plans

Reliance Jio’s website has accidentally announced that Jio Fiber will roll out with a preview plan of 100Mbps connections for three months, for free. There will be an installation charge (‘refundable security deposit’) of ₹4,500, and data is capped at 100GB per month, after which speeds will be limited to 1Mbps.

The website — which reddit user nromil was able to access (h/t) by disabling a redirect — also lists the following cities where JioFiber registrations are being accepted. Keep in mind that since this microsite seemingly hasn’t yet officially opened for the general public, this may not be the complete list of cities in which JioFiber will initially launch: Ahmedabad, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, and Vishakhapatnam. Under each PIN code for those cities, various apartment complexes and buildings have been indexed by Jio.

It also seems like Jio’s installation will include its own custom router — it’s possible that the installation charges may be partially revoked if users opt to use their own router. Jio also seems to have an option that says “I am interested in enhancing Jio coverage in my building”, which could mean that Jio could be building a mesh network of routers to improve coverage to the network for all users — think Eero (or Google WiFi), but on the level of a whole building, not just a single house.
