Government officers in Delhi are still reaping the benefits of their services even after months and years of their retirements.
In a special probe carried out by CNN News 18 for a month, it was found that such is the case for at least five retired government officers who are enjoying their perks at the heart of New Delhi, though they have retired long back.
Prakash Mishra, Ex-DG of CRPF
The news crew of CNN News 18 visited the Shahjahan Road residence of Mr Mishra who retired almost eight months ago on March 28, 2016. The person is now the DG of Fire Department. It was found that he is still using the same house which has not been re-issued. He still holds a government car, two CRPF jawans as security men, who are not entitled to him. According to his guards, he also has a dog handler.
Ranjit Sinha, Ex-Director of CBI
Mr. Ranjit Sinha, who retired on Dec 4, 2014, is a Hauz Khas resident. It was found that he still has a government car with CBI logo on it. On asking, both Mr Sinha and his son denied. But according to the CBI, he has another car, two motorcycles and 11 security guards under his service.
SC Sinha, Ex-DG of NIA
SC Sinha has retired on April 7, 2013. He is now a member of national human rights commission. After visiting his Lodhi Estate residence, team CNN News 18 talked to his security man who is a CRPF personnel and has been staying with Mr. Sinha since his retirement three-and-a-half-years ago.
Rajiv and Arvind Rajan, Ex-DG of CISF
Both the officers who retired three years ago and one year ago respectively, were found to be holding CISF personnel as their security guards.
All retired government servants who continue to use services they no longer have rights to use cars, bungalows, security men, dog handlers.
According to the rules, a government gazetted officer has to give away all the facilities he/she has after his retirement, apart from his residence. But here all of them were openly flouting the rules. The matter has even reached highest levels of the government.
