The Honda rickshaw concept from designer Enoch Morishima is a Honda sponsored design study that gives a high-tech and robotic twist to the old Asian rickshaw concept. The designer sees it as a transport medium that would “rule” city centers, making them less congested and clean. The rickshaw concept is seen as a cheap and efficient public transportation system designed for downtown areas in Malaysia.
The pod is much like those seen on conventional rickshaws, and is pulled by a robot capable of interacting with the passengers. The pod can be detached from the rickshaw and attached to another transport medium like a ropeway for connection to other, more conventional transport systems like coastal commuters.
