The State Legal Services Authority has decided to open permanent Lok Adalats in five districts of the state with an aim to expand the sphere of legal system based on mutual consent.
The decision was taken at the 14th sitting of the State Legal Services Authority held at Nainital today. “After deciding to open permanent structures of free legal service in Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar at our last meeting, we have now decided to open lok adalats in Nainital, Haridwar, Tehri, Almora and Pauri districts,” said VK Bisht, senior judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, who chaired the meeting of the legal authority today.
Justice Bisht said the authority had also decided to take services of NGOs active in the sphere of speedy justice to people residing in remote areas of the state and invite applications from them in this regard. “We have decided to make people aware about their legal rights and other useful services being offered by the state for their welfare,” said Justice Bisht.
