E-Visa’s success story
The central government gave a big boost to the tourism industry through its much talked about and more successful e-visa scheme for tourists which was launched as visa-on-arrival on February 2014 and later renamed as e-visa to avoid any confusion. The e-visa scheme resulted in a quantum leap in the arrival of tourists to India, especially from UK, US and other European countries.

E-Visa tourism package – What is it about?
Taking forward the resounding success from the e-visa program, the central government has decided to provide a gift package containing SIM card, Maps, booklets, and a CD containing information on various Tourist Destinations in India. The kit will also provide Do’s and Don’ts while traveling across India, details regarding whom to contact in case of emergency among other things. The package will be given to all the people who arrive at the 16 airports listed by the tourism ministry under this scheme. The 16 airports include Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi, Goa, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Amritsar, Gaya, Lucknow, and Trichy.
