After what seemed to be a never ending saga of silly films in Bollywood, finally as a breath of fresh air comes Ek Villain. With its plain, simple, engaging and intriguing plot, it manages to leave you in awe of everything you see for two and a half hours.
Here is Mohit Suri’s EK VILLAIN movie review:
Guru(Siddharth Malhotra) is a don working for his boss Caesar (Remo Fernandez). He is haunted by his past life and finds it difficult to live a normal life and hence resorts to killing and bloodshed.
He crosses paths with the bubbly, full of life, happy-go-lucky- Aisha(Shraddha Kapoor) who changes his life and brings sunshine into his dark world. They fall in love and get married.
Just as they enter marital bliss, Aisha is found murdered in a mysterious manner. Outraged, Guru goes out to find the ‘villain’ in his love story. He learns of Rakesh’s(Riteish Deshmukh)hand behind the death of his wife. The next half of the story revolves around Guru avenging the murder of his beloved, trying to understand the reason behind Rakesh’s hideous act and coming face to face with reality.
The film has been beautiful weaved by Mohit Suri. Like Aashiqui 2, the story is crystal clear and has a great set of actors.
Siddharth Malhotra is convincing as a good guy gone bad. He steals your heart with his superb acting.
Shraddha Kapoor is at her usual best in the film. She looks stunning and does a fab job.
What comes as a surprise package is actor Riteish Deshmukh. Coming out of his comfort zone, Riteish has delivered a masterpiece of a performance with Ek Villain.
Aamna Sharif is good and quite suits the role she has been given. She plays Ritesih’s gorgeous angry wife.
A special mention about the song Awari. The song is an item number and has the sweet Prachi Desai in a hot and bold avatar, shaking to the beat.
The music of the film is soulful, adding to the brilliance of this tale. The twists and turns are in place and will hold your attention from the start until the curtains drop.
