One post-Christmas sale/price drop we didn’t expect to see was Dell reducing the cost of owning the super-thin Adamo 13 laptop. And to make the deal even sweeter the reduced price has been coupled with an improved spec.
The $999 price tag has been dropped to $899. On it’s own, a nice drop, but then you look at the spec which sees the included RAM jump from 2GB to 4GB as standard. Even better, the processor has been swapped from a rather slow 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo to a much faster 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo SL9600.
Here’s a reminder of the full (updated) spec of the luxury laptop:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor @ 2.1GHz
  • 4GB DDR3 system memory
  • 13.4-inch 16:9 HD display (720p)
  • Draft-Wireless N
  • 128GB high-performance solid state drive
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • Mobile Broadband option
  • Up to 5+ hours of battery life
  • 2 USB ports, 1 USB/eSATA combo port, Display Port, RJ-45 port
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
The reason for the price drop is thought to be as a way of clearing stock before Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors become available. At which point Dell will be making a big deal of a new Adamo 13 model we suspect.
If you’re in the market for a luxury laptop then put the updated Adamo 13 on your shortlist.
