Cisco Brings Their Flip Mino And Flip Ultra HD To India

Cisco has launched two of their pocket cameras in India, the FlipMino HD and the FlipUltra HD. However, Cisco's only released them in 5 cities in Karnataka (why, Cisco, why?) including Bangalore, Mysore, Hubli, Belgaum and Udupi. These little pocket camcorders come with 720p recording capabilities, record in MP4 format, come with an HDMI port to watch the footage on a television and contain FlipShare software, which is a very basic video editing program.
The Flip MinoHD comes with a two inch anti glare screen, comes with 8GB of memory and can store up to 2 hours of footage. The pocket-sized device features a durable brushed metal finish and responsive touch-sensitive buttons. Flip MinoHD comes with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery that can be charged through the built-in USB arm. The FlipMino HD is priced at Rs. 9,999.

The Flip UltraHD comes with 4GB of memory and can store up to an hour of footage. It comes with a two inch screen and is powered by 2 AA batteries. The device is priced at Rs. 12,499.

The FlipUltra HD might not fit into all pockets
The idea behind the Flip Cam certainly is good, and two years ago, when they were trendy, they were definitely put to good use. This reporter too owned a FlipMino HD. However, two years later, my camera is dead and while debating buying another one, it seems a little redundant to buy this device when you already own say, an iPhone 4 or the Nokia N8. Especially because those two phones can also take some decent still pictures while the Flip is limited to video. I will say that the Flip shoots some spectacular video in outdoor daylight. Indoors, the footage gets a little grainy. If you want to keep your camera-life separate from your smartphone-life, the Flip Cam is a pretty nifty option.
