A GoAir flight made an emergency landing on Saturday morning in Nagpur following a bomb scare.
Passengers of the Bhubaneswar-Mumbai flight were deplaned immediately after the bomb threat.
The airport manager at the Biju Patnaik airport of Nagpur received an anonymous call warning of a bomb on board the flight after which the passengers were off-loaded.
The plane was taken to a remote parking bay for further investigation. However, no suspicious objects were found.
An GoAir spokesperson confirmed the incident. “The aircraft has been cleared and boarding has almost completed,” said the spokesperson.
The caller using an Odisha cell phone number mentioned the flight number and said, “Suitcase mein bomb hai.”
Investigators, however felt that a mentally unstable person made the calls. The suspect identified as Sanjeev Mishra allegedly made two more hoax calls over the past 18 hours. One was a bomb hoax at Mumbai’s domestic terminal and on board a fleet taxi.
