Badal To Be Developed As A Centre Of Excellence In Education

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today announced that village Badal would be soon developed as a hub of quality educational institutions right from primary to post graduate level in the diverse curriculum encompassing arts, humanities, science, commerce, nursing and biotechnology.
In his presidential address on the first annual convocation held here at Dasmesh Girls College of Education, Mr.Badal said; "Dasmesh Educational Institutions equipped with modern infrastructure started its journey in a humble way in mid eighties which were now heading towards an educational revolution in the region by imparting quality education especially to the women in the remote rural areas".
He said that today he was extremely delighted as he had almost spent the entire day in scripting new chapters in the field of education – a subject which was probably close to his heart. He said that the 60% of the students who had passed out from this college had been appointed as teachers either in government or private schools.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the role of the management of the college in securing top positions not only in academics but also in the extra curricular activities. He pointed out that few students of this college had done proud to Punjab through their outstanding contribution in the fields of sports. On the occasion Mr.Badal announced a cash prize of Rs.50000 for the overall topper of the college in the university examinations and Rs.25000 each to the students securing second and third position. Mr.Badal gave a way these prizes to the students of sessions 2005-06 and 2006-07.
Vice Chairman of the Bharti Enterprises who was the guest of the honour announced five Bharti scholarships of Rs.35000 each to the deserving students of B.ed College to promote education amongst the women. He also assured the Chief Minister that Bharti Group in its pursuit of excellence in education would set up 100 primary schools in Punjab out of 500 to be set up in India. Likewise the Bharti Group would set up 10 Adarsh Schools in the state as per the terms and conditions of the state government.
Earlier, Mr.Badal presented the degrees to the 105 students of B.ed for the academic session 2005-06 and 2006-07. On the occasion, Principal of the College Mr.SS Sangha read the annual report for the year 2005-06 and 2006-07 briefly outlining the major achievements of the college in the field of academics and co-curricular activities.
Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Panjab University Senate member Dr.Deepak Manmohan Singh, Principal of Dasmesh Girls College Mrs.Kuldeep Kaur Mann, Vice Principal of the Dasmesh Girls Education College Ms.Vaneeta, Principal Dasmesh Girls Public Sr. Secondary School Mrs.Jagdish Kaur Sidhu, Principal Jagroop Singh Sidhu member of the Dasmesh Girls College Local Managing Society, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister KJS Cheema and Deputy Commissioner Muktsar Vikas Garg.
