As the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are all set to enter the Indian market, Apple seems to have slashed the pricing of the iPhone 4s. When the new iPhones were introduced, the company planned to discontinue iPhone 5 as it would be replaced by the 5S. However, it planned to continue the 4S model and has added the 8GB variant. Several reports suggest that iPhone 4S which was selling for Rs 38,000 until now, will now be available for Rs 31,500, which is a drop of slightly less than Rs 7,000.

The iPhone 4s was launched in India early last year for Rs 40,000. Let’s quickly brush through its specifications. The iPhone 4s sports a 3.5-inch Retina display (640 x 960 pixels) and is powered by a dual-core processor (A5 chip). It is fitted with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera. The 4s is upgradeable to iOS 7, the latest OS by Apple. However, it may not support certain new features.

Price slashed!

It should also be noted that the iPhone 4s still supports the older connector, and not the new lightening connector seen in Apple’s latest devices. Earlier today, it was known that Airtel and Reliance will be officially rolling out the new iPhones for the market. While the iPhone 5c will start at Rs 42,000, the 5s will start at Rs 54,000.

Both iPhones will reach the market just as the festivities begin on November 1. The new products have definitely generated quite a lot of buzz, but opinions are spilt on which iPhone the Indian user will be picking up. Check out our round-table discussion about the new iPhones.
