Robbers on bikes snatch Rs 11L

In two separate incidents allegedly involving some robbers on motorcycles robbed two persons of around Rs 11 lakh.

In a brazen daylight robbery on Friday morning, three motorcyclists robbed a man of a bag containing Rs 8 lakh, right in the middle of a busy road in Vishwas Nagar in east Delhi.

Around 10 am, the victim, 25-year-old Prem Singh, who trades in copper goods, was walking towards his shop in Shankar Galli near Farsh Bazaar with a bag containing Rs 8 lakh. As soon as he neared his shop, three motorcyclists drove up next to him, snatched his bag and sped off.

Singh called the police and informed them of what had happened. "We are working on some leads and will make the arrests soon," said DCP (east) Ajay Chowdhary. A police official from Farsh Bazaar police station added the copper shop owned by Singh had no official record of transactions to prove that the bag indeed contained Rs 8 lakh. "We are looking into the matter,"said the official.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a travel agent was robbed of Rs 3.4 lakh by two motorcyclists in Keshavpuram. Jatinder Jain, was standing outside his shop, Nainital Travel Agency private limited. The two bikers stopped by to ask for directions to Ram Nagar and as he was telling them the way, they snatched the bag and fled.
