Punjabi Dialects

There are 4 official dialects of Punjabi, spoken in both regions of Punjab in India & Pakistan. They are as follows:

Majhi (Lahori/Amritsari)
The 'Mahji' dialect is the most common one of the Punjabi language. It's what one would typically call 'original Punjabi'.

ex. - Ki karda ah? (What are you doing?)

Pothohari
The 'Pothohari' dialect is mostly spoken by Punjabi's residing in Pakistan. Some Jats residing in Punjab are also capable of speaking this dialect. It's also very similar to 'Haryanvi'.

ex - Keh haal eh? (How are you?)

Dogri/Pahari
The 'Dogri' dialect is generally spoken in the Jammu-Kashmir areas. A lot of people in Himachal Pradesh also speak this dialect.

ex - Tusan da naa kay ai? (What's your name?)

Multani/Saraiki
The 'Multani/Saraiki' dialect is mostly spoken in Pakistan. However, some people in India can also speak this dialect.

ex - Tusan kitho kolo ayay ho? (Where are you from?)

Kangri
'Kangri' is the unofficial dialect of Punjabi, as it is spoken only in Northern India, near the Himachal Pardesh areas.

(Note: Although heavily considered a dialect of Punjabi, Haryanvi is not.) :y
