Porsche to launch Panamera in 2009

Aamby Valley: German super sports car manufacturer Porsche AG is upbeat on the Indian market and hopes to launch its four-door super sedan Panamera by late 2009.
The Porsche Panamera is currently in design and development stage, and will be the first four-door, four-seat sedan to go into production from Porsche.
Speaking to Business Line here at the Porsche World Roadshow, Rod Wallace, Managing Director of Porsche India, said Panamera will be the right car for India, where potential buyers will like its unique combination of sports car performance and the comforts of a four-door sedan.

He mentioned that Porsche is extremely excited with the idea of launching the Panamera in India and believes it has good prospects here. Currently, the best selling vehicle in India from the Porsche stable is the Cayenne, its super luxury crossover sports utility. The Panamera is likely to be launched in India simultaneously with its global debut late next year.

Expanding footprint
Wallace said in the run up to new launches, Porsche India is working to consolidate its position in the Indian market and to that end is currently looking to expand its footprint by setting up new dealerships in at least four more cities within the next two quarters. The cities will include Chennai, Ludhiana, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Currently, the company has two dealerships one each in Delhi and Mumbai. Porsche India’s dealership expansion roadmap is expected to reach a total of 10 dealerships in the next two years. The German major is also expected to foray into the pre-owned cars space by next year.
Porsche India had organised its famous World Roadshow for two weeks. The show is said to have attracted around 300 customers who have experienced new Porsche technologies that have been built into the 2009 models. http://sify.com/finance/todaysheadlines.php?page=2&ad=
