The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd (HPSEBL) Pensioners Welfare Association (state body) has expressed gratitude to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for releasing 6 per cent dearness allowance (DA) to its staff with effect from January 1, 2015 but has expressed displeasure at the discrimination of the HPSEBL management for not releasing the DA instalment to its pensioners.
In a press note issued here today, association’s state president BK Sood regretted it was a breach of trust of the assurance given to the pensioners by the HPSEBL management in all its meetings held with the state body of the association in the past to issue such orders concurrently with the serving employees who had recently been released the DA instalment.
“The pensioners, who are also senior citizens, are upset at the lack of concern shown by the management as this has become a routine to keep the rightful dues of the pensioners on hold on one pretext or the other and delay their payments thereby causing loss to them in the shape of interest accrued on their amount,” he said.
“It will be appreciated if the procedure of e-pension like in HP government departments whereby the disbursals are straightaway credited to the pensioners’ accounts is implemented. Whereas contrary to it, the HPSEBL first issues orders to its serving employees, then for pensioners which takes around 6 to 8 months and then the banks concerned take another one month to calculate and credit the amount,” Sood said.
The state president sought the immediate release of DA instalment for pensioners. He also sought assurance that in future the dues would be allowed and paid simultaneously to the pensioners and incumbent employees.
He extolled the endeavours of association’s district president Sohan Kumar Sharma and general secretary Mukesh Bedi for making arrangements for the conduct of state-level conference of the state body held at Chamba recently.
