Patiala October 20:

In order to make timely payments to farmers for their produce, state Minister for Food and Civil Supply Adesh Partap Singh Kairon launched a pilot project at the office of Market Committee situated at the Sirhind road Grain Market here. Under this scheme, the government would make online payment to arhtiyas in the mandis itself through master card technology.

Kairon said based on the pattern of international banking, he had got a special card made for arhtiyas through the Central Bank of India. After they swap their card, the payment for the produce would automatically be transferred in their account. This would enable them to make timely payments to the farmers.

Named after the minister, this card would be called Kairon card and every arhtiya would be issued this card. “Arhtiyas will have to swap this card in the machine, which would be available with the Food and Civil Supply Inspectors, and the bills produced by the arhtiyas will be entered in the machine itself. They will also get a receipt of the entry on the spot. The entry would be registered in the main server of the head office at Chandigarh.
