Apart from Garmin I can’t think of any other make of GPS sports watch on the market without resulting to a touch of Google research, which is why this bit of news caught my interest. Nike and TomTom have combined forces to bring us the Nike GPS SportWatch, which is out in the UK and US in April.
The GPS watch certainly looks stylish from the images I have seen. It is said to be packed with a clear and readable user interface which can be manipulated easily whilst on the run thanks to its three button and tap screen system. During your run, the watch will also be able to capture location information and show you the time, distance, pace, and calories that have been burned.
Additionally, the GPS receiver will work in tandem with the shoe-based Nike+ Sensor to provide more accurate pace/distance data. Before/after your run you can plug the watch into a USB port (Mac or PC) and then transfer your data over or install routes via Nikeplus.com.
On-watch features include:

  • Tap Screen for setting laps and activating back-light
  • Run History with data from past runs
  • Personal Records including those imported from Nikeplus.com
  • Quick Start with optional shoe-based Nike+ Sensor
  • Heart Rate Monitor compatibility
