MAN HELD WITH COCAINE WORTH RS.10 MN IN PUNJAB

Mohali September 4:
In the third major seizure of cocaine here in the past one week, a Rajasthan native was arrested and 930 grams of the contraband worth Rs.10 million was seized from him, the police said.
"On a secret tip-off, we arrested Lekh Raj, a resident of district Bharatpur in Rajasthan, from Landran roundabout with a bag containing cocaine," said Harinderjit Singh Sidhu, superintendent of police (operations), Mohali. Lekh Raj was waiting for a customer at the roundabout to deliver the consignment when the police nabbed him, said Sidhu.
The police seized 960 grams of cocaine Sep 1 from Zirakpur near Chandigarh while they busted a high-profile drug trafficking racket on August 29 involving a former defence official, two Haryana police officials and one Rajasthan police official. The police sources said that the accused arrested has no connection with those arrested Aug 29 and Sep 1 for drug trafficking. Raj will be produced on Thursday in the district court of Mohali, said Sidhu.
