Legitimate Video Recording in iPhones

Gone are the days when you needed to jailbreak your iPhone 2G and 3G to enable video recoding on the phone. In a reversal of its policy (of sorts) Apple has officially allowed to video recording applications on the App Store. Users can now record video on their previous generation iPhones using apps like iVideoCamera and UStream Broadcaster for the iPhone 3G.

Before starting to get elated, let us remind you that the video recording on the old iPhones will happen at an earth shattering 160*213 resolution at (hold your breath!) THREE frames per second. But hey, we're not complaining! This is still better than having nothing at all. Just for comparisons sake, the 3GS does VGA (640*480) video recording. It is quite clear that the recording quality will see a major improvement in the near future because the iPhone 2G and the 3G with Cycorder is able to record videos at 15 frames per second at a decent 384 288 resolution.

Another good feature is that users can instantly share videos on Facebook and Vimeo (not on Twitter, as of now) using iVideoCamera. Ustream on the other hand supports 3G and live streaming via Wi-Fi or 3G.
