MOHALI: Bringing back memories of a girl killing her mother with the help of her lover in Kharar in March 2005, another one from nearby Kurali strangled her mother on late Wednesday night. A resident of Sialba Majri village, Gurinder Kaur took this step as her mother Karamjeet Kaur had opposed her affair with a Muslim boy. The police arrested the girl who has reportedly confessed to the crime.
Police said that Karamjeet Kaur was trying to bolt the door when her daughter strangled her. After that she left a suicide note and fled from home.
The girl's brother stays with his maternal grandparents and her elder sister is married. When the dead woman's husband Karam Singh, who works as a security guard in Chandigarh reached home, he found her body lying in a pool of blood as well as the suicide note.
He informed the cops who initially picked up the boy involved with the his daughter for questioning. Even as the police were interrogating him, the girl rang him up to tell him what she had done and asked him to meet her at a particular spot. The cops who had recorded the conversation took the boy there and arrested her. She then spilled the beans.
"We have arrested the girl and will produce her before the court on Friday. The boy isn't involved in the crime. The girl took this step due to her mother's anger over her affair," said DSP (Kharar) Joginder Singh.
