Punjab former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said that the next Congress Government in the state will review all the policy decisions taken by the current SAD-BJP Government.

“The State Government had made some policies quite in an arbitrary manner which were anti-people and hence needed to be reviewed,” said Amarinder who was here to meet the parents of Gurkirat Sekhon who was killed by Prince Makkar, the nephew of Akali MLA Sarabjit Singh Makkar.

He assured the bereaved family that his party will ensure that they got justice. “No political interference will be tolerated into the investigations and nobody would be allowed to shield the guilty,” said Captain. Punjab Congress president condemned the incident and said the act had apparently been committed by the culprits with the impression that they will get away with it. “We will ensure that the guilty are brought to the book and full justice is done”, he asserted.

He said that the killing of Gurkirat Sekhon was not an isolated incident or the only act of the Makkar family which had become a law unto itself. He had received several complaints from the people that the Makkar’s had been bullying everyone, be he a common man or an official, so much so he even abused Industry and Commerce Minister Manoranjan Kalia at his residence.

Captain expressed grave concern over the deterioration of law and order in the State. Substantiating his charges, he gave graphic figures as how the incidents of crime, including the murder, dacoities, attempt to murder, robberies, intimidation of officials and other crimes had increased under the SAD-BJP regime and people were feeling unsafe and insecure.

Replying to questions about the e-tendering of the sand mines and the amendment in the services laws, the PCC President made it clear that all the policy decisions taken by the State Government will be reviewed and examined whether they are in the interest of the State or not.
