All eyes may be on the iPad with its $499 price tag, but the competition is gearing up to offer some cheaper alternatives. One of the first looks to be Archos which has announced its latest 7″ touchscreen tablet will be available in June.
The Archos 7 Home Tablet is an Android device, but it will run v1.6 and has no access to the Android Marketplace. Archos took a similar decision with its Archos 5 Internet Tablet choosing to offer its own range of apps instead.
The Archos 7 will have WiFi and USB connectivity, 800×480 resistive touchscreen (meaning a stylus will be desirable if not required), and internal storage of 160GB or 320GB.
The best bit of news is the price. Archos has priced the Archos 7 starting at just 149 Euros or $190.
