Acer’s refreshing pretty much every aspect of their desktop line-up this morning, and the first of their new machines is their aesthetically pleasing, iMac-like all-in-ones, the AMD-based Acer Aspire AZ3100-U3072 and the Intel-based Acer Aspire AZ5700-U3112.
The 21.5-inch AMD Aspire is the cheaper option and probably a better bang for the buck: it ships with AMD’s 2GHZ Anthlon II 170u CPU, 3GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive; the CPU is paired with an NVIDIA GeForce 9200 GPU, which seems like a curious choice, seeing that AMD owns ATI and probably would have offered Acer a deal on a combo.
On the Intel front, you get a 23-inch display running at full 1080p, as well as Intel’s 3.2GHz Core i5-650 CPU, 4GB of memory, a 1TB hard drive and a touchscreen. Graphics are provided by an Intel HD integrated GPU, which is pretty terrible, but on the bright side, you get a TV tuner and an IR blaster.
Both machines have Windows 7, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, gigabit ethernet, 5.1 audio, HDMI and six USB 2.0 ports. They’re available now: the Acer Aspire AZ3100-U3072 is priced at $599, while the Acer Aspire AZ5700-U3112 is $1,099.
